Something pretty awful happened recently and thoughts of it still can’t leave my mind in a hurry…

I kept wondering why the fence of my local primary health centre fell down face flat like the gods of the Philistines in the bible…

and alas!

It wasn’t a bulldozer at work…

neither was it an earthquake

or a car crash…

Strangely, it was the obesely fat root of an immature plant (yes, a real plant, not a tree) that did the damage…

Unbelievable right?

I thought so too for a moment until I saw the depth of the root…

It literally pushed the fence over like it was nothing…

I never understood it until my younger brother who happens to be a civil engineer began to break the sorry details of what occurred to the fence…

according to him, the unfortunate fence accident was as a result of the builders not paying attention to seeds and whatnot in the soil while casting the foundation with concrete…

As water found its way under…

Drip drip… A drop here… a drop there…

the seed began to grow beneath… became a mighty fat root…

and after more than 15 years of standing erect…

BOOM!

The fence came down like the ancient walls of Jericho,,,

pushed over by a patient seed fed slowly with water beneath concrete

Now, the seed is your business…

And the concrete flooring is my email list
